Residential Life

Conceived as an ideal boarding school with just 21 students in 1948, Yadavindra Public School (YPS), Patiala, has upheld its reputation as a distinguished residential institution. Our exceptional boarding facilities offer a warm, nurturing environment where young minds can thrive.

Each House is carefully overseen by a House Matron, who ensures that students' hygiene, clothing, and other needs are met, while House Masters manage administration, discipline, and monitor student progress. Leadership roles such as House Captains and Prefects are taken up by senior students, who guide and mentor their peers.

The boys' residential block is a modern, three-storey building that accommodates students from classes VII to XII, featuring spacious, well-designed dorm rooms with study desks, ample storage, and air conditioning. Amenities like an automated kitchen, bakery, and launderette further enhance the boarding experience. A separate block for Holding House boys (classes IV-VI) provides personalized care and attention for younger students.

The Girls' Boarding area, distinctly located, offers spacious dormitories with modern amenities. Our modern central dining hall serves nutritious meals, and a well-equipped infirmary, staffed by a visiting doctor and resident nurse, ensures students' health and well-being.

Daily Routine
The day begins with morning PT, followed by regular academic hours. The evening is filled with physical activities and games, which helps in developing teamwork and camaraderie. To ensure that the students stay on top of their academic game, there are supervised study hours and remedial classes.

Recreational Facilities
A wide range of recreational facilities are made available to the boarders. The sports facilities include a gymnasium, swimming pool, sports fields, squash and tennis courts, and a multi-purpose hall.

The boarding complex has a range of common areas where students can socialize, relax, and unwind. The common rooms are equipped with TVs, games, computers, and high-speed internet, providing ample opportunities for entertainment and leisure.

Dining Hall
Nutritious and culturally diverse meals are offered in the Central Dining Hall. All meals are carefully planned and prepared by experienced chefs. Senior students are included in the Mess Committee to get regular feedback. The dining hall offers a range of options, including special diets and preferences, ensuring every student's needs are met.
 

Safety and Security
Safety of the students is of paramount importance and has to be ascertained in every way. To achieve this, 24/7 security is provided through CCTV cameras which are installed across the school campus, and more so at all the potentially sensitive spots. Cameras are installed inside the classes, corridors and even along the peripheral areas of the school. Controlled access to the campus and dormitories, with clear emergency protocols in place also ensures the safety of the students.

Support Services
Prep or supervised studies at Yadavindra Public School (YPS), Patiala, are meticulously scheduled, aligning with subjects and ensuring that the respective teachers are available to offer guidance and support. This allows students to seek help in real-time, enhancing their learning experience.

Counsellors and tutors provide both academic and emotional support, while the pastoral care team ensures each student receives individual attention. Periodic notebook checks by pastoral care teachers and their regular interactions with boarders guarantee that no hurdles impede the hostellers' pursuit of academic excellence.

Parent Involvement
The school maintains a continuous and meaningful communication with parents to ensure a strong partnership in their child's education. A carefully designed schedule allows school staff and house staff to meet with parents regularly, fostering open communication and collaboration.

Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) provide parents with valuable opportunities to engage directly with teachers and inquire about their child's progress. Additionally, our school website and app are effectively utilized to keep parents informed and updated on their child's development, ensuring they remain closely connected to their educational journey.
