The UKIERI School Strand brings
together clusters of schools in the UK and India for
joint curriculum projects and professional development
opportunities. It offers links between young people in
the UK and India, providing opportunities for thousands
of young people to start a life-long engagement with
each other's country.
UKIERI provides a unique platform for the sharing of
educational developments and reform, and opportunities
for dialogue and networking. It promotes cooperation
between UK Schools and the private and Government-funded
school sectors in India through strategic partnerships
between bodies such as local authorities and national
school organizations in the UK and the NVS and KVS
managed school systems in India. Such links will address
priorities for each government, fostering child-centered
education and increasing internationalism in schools.
Cluster-to-cluster partnerships
One contact seminar will be held every year, attended by
cluster leaders and teachers from UK and India. These
seminars will be used to forge partnerships between the
clusters and to formulate joint curriculum projects.
Priority Areas:
Collaborative projects for schools will be undertaken in
these priority areas of mutual interest:
- Arts/Creative Industries
- Teaching of Languages
- Science and Technology
- Entrepreneurship
- Environmental Studies
- Sports
The cluster partnerships will be expected to address
some compulsory themes over the lifespan of the project.
- ICT in the classroom
- Internationalism
- School Leadership
Wherever possible, those taking part in UKIERI school
activity will have the opportunity for recognition of
their work through the International School Award.
